Every new month is a gift from God. We may enter it with plans, expectations and prayers, but the best way to begin is not with anxiety about what lies ahead—it is with thanksgiving for what God has already done.
Psalm 100:4 says, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.” Thanksgiving is a spiritual gate. It shifts our attention from our problems to God’s faithfulness, from what we lack to what He has provided, and from yesterday’s struggles to tomorrow’s possibilities.
Before you ask God for what you need in this new month, thank Him for bringing you this far. Thank Him for life. Thank Him for protection. Thank Him for answered prayers, and even for the prayers whose answers are still on the way.
A grateful heart recognizes that if God has brought you this far, He is able to carry you further.
As you enter this month, don’t enter complaining. Enter with praise. Don’t enter with fear. Enter with faith. Don’t enter remembering only what went wrong. Remember the goodness of God.
Prayer
Father, I thank You for bringing me into this new month. Thank You for Your faithfulness, mercy and protection. I enter this month through the gate of thanksgiving and praise.
May Your presence go before me. May You order my steps, open the right doors, close the wrong ones, and establish the work of my hands. Let this month bring testimonies, divine opportunities, restoration and spiritual growth.
I declare that I will see the goodness of the Lord in this new month. I enter with thanksgiving, I walk by faith, and I expect great things from my God.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
